隨著外在環境如何變動, 細胞或生命體(常常利用負回饋系統)會自動調節內部的生理環境, 並穩定其生理健康及生理機能。

面對外在環境的變動, homeostasis是身體或細胞尋找並維持生理環境平衡或穩定的條件的能力。

Hemostasis
The complex process of stopping or arresting bleeding or keeping the blood within the damaged blood vessel, particularly by physiological means such as vasoconstriction and coagulation or by surgical means.
Hemostasis是阻止(arrest)受傷血管不斷出血的複雜過程。通常是藉由生理方法，如血管收縮和血液凝結，或是手術方法來達成
所以Hemostasis就是止血反應
