The typing speeds(in words/min) of 10 employees are shown below.
10,13,14,17,17,19,21,24,24,28

After they have taken a training course on typing, their typing speeds (in words/min) are summarised below.
Minimum: 26
First quartile: 28
Median: 32
Third quartile: 36
Maximum: 40

By box-and-whisker diagram, can we say that none of them have improved the typing speeds by 20 words or more per minute after the training? Explain your answer briefly.

I want to ask how to answer this type of question, thank you!

This question seems to be complicated, but actually extremely easy.

It asks "can we say that none of them have improved the typing speeds by 20 words or more per minute after the training?"

The answer is NO.

It is possible that the slowest one originally (10 wpm) became the fastest one in the new records (40 wpm), so he/she improved by more than 20 wpm.

From the box-and-whisker diagram (or from the summary statistics), we do not know the individual details, so we cannot draw such a conclusion.
