Why do all the cleaning commercials have women in it?

Because hundreds of millions of dollars are spent in market research that shows that women still do the majority of cleaning and household shopping.

No point in spending million of dollars aimed at people who don't buy your product. I mean would you spend millions of dollars advertising the latest Ipad in Amish country?

They don't. Mr. Clean and the other guy along with Shamwow were all dudes. These are the ones that appear the most too. It's also just a general fact that well over 50% of the people who do the cleaning are women and that's why even most of the workers at my place are women in our housekeeping department cuz more of them apply for it and all. They go after the consumer and most consumers for cleaning products are women.

Media has a long way of catching up with the changing "gender roles" of society. Since the beginning of time women and men were expected to fill certain gender roles. Meaning tasks that were proper for a man and tasks proper for a woman. Woman were expected to get married, make babies, stay at home with babies, clean the house, and make all meals for hubby and family. It was a "woman's" place in the household while her husband goes out into the working world doing macho manly work stuff. Media shows women in cleaning commercials because it's the easiest demographic. If they were to show a man doing housework, some people might get offended that the commercial of the cleaning product was trying to disrupt family roles. And as an audience we're just use to seeing women in cleaning commercials. We are making some progress though... I've noticed lately that more men are appearing in commercials for laundry detergent, though most of them feature a significant other scorning them for their lack of folding/sorting skills. women clean better than men

Because men would spend half the advert reading the back of the bottle for the instructions and trying to work out what they are supposed to be doing and then just getting it wrong and making more of a mess.

Probably cause women are stereo-typically thought to be in charge of the domestic sphere, so they'll supposed to take care of all the housework

Because basically women do the cleaning works. I've never seen a man who does cleaning works, have you?
