'TO THE WORLD YOU MAY BE ONE PERSON BUT TO ONE PERSON YOU MAY BE THE WORLD.' by Bill Wilson

Maybe is an adverb, means perhaps.
eg: Maybe you are right.

May is a modal verb.
May be means is possibly.
eg: He may be late.

Only the second one is correct.
You need to use "may be".

Maybe = perhaps =possibly 副詞(adverb) 常見放在句首
Maybe it will stop raining soon. = Perhaps it will stop raining soon.
A: I thought Suzy would be here by now. B: Maybe she forgot.

MAY BE當名詞可做可能性解釋(a possibility or uncertainty)
May be = is possibly 後面常接名詞 動名詞 和形容詞
He may be mad. (may be + 形容詞)
He may be an artist. (may be +名詞)
He may be trying too hard. (may be + 動詞ing)

Is there any difference between the following two sentences; if so please point out which one is grammatically correct:
(1)TO THE WORLD YOU MAY BE ONE PERSON BUT TO ONE PERSON YOU MAYBE THE WORLD...
Ans.(1) sentence is grammatically incorrect, for "MAYBE' is an adverb and there is not predicate or verb in the second clause of " BUT TO ONE PERSON YOU MAYBE THE WORLD".
(2)TO THE WORLD YOU MAY BE ONE PERSON BUT TO ONE PERSON YOU MAY BE THE WORLD..
Ans. (2) sentence is grammatically correct..

第二句才是正確。

如果我沒看錯,兩句的分別只是第二個 maybe 和 may be 之分。

"may be" 是 auxiliary verb + be
用法似 should be, can be, would be, 等等

"maybe" 是 adverb, 即是 perhaps
例: Maybe I should answer your question.

"You may be one person" = "Maybe you are one person"
