My 5 year old son vomits a lot more than most kids his age... What could be causing this?
My son is an otherwise healthy 5 year old kid... I had a normal pregnancy and birth with him. Every so often he will just throw up. (this week it has been 3 or 4 times) He will give us a little notice saying "my belly hurts" and usually throw up shortly afterwards. We have tried keeping track as to what might cause these episodes, but there doesn't seem to be any connecting factors that we notice. There usually isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't say his belly hurts. He goes regularly for he well visits and they always give him a clean bill of health. If anyone has a child with the same issues or if you have any suggestions to what could be causing this I would greatly appreciate it! He goes tomorrow - back to his pediatrician - for ANOTHER follow up. Thanks for your input!

Hi I used to do the exact same thing when I was little, some children just have very delicate stomachs and even the most silly things bother them. We figured out that if I complained of my tummy hurting, my mom would have me take deep breaths and try to relax, while I did not completely stop vomiting on a regular basis, it did help. I have always been a high achiever and a bit high strung and I would barf all the time. The good new is I grew out of it by the time I was about 9. Though it may seem silly, I would also just have him talk to a counselor, my family lives together and I have had really no traumas of any sort in my life, but my mom had me go to a counselor a few years ago and it really helped me be calm. We were surprised to find out that I had mild anxiety disorders, I was able to talk through most of it and I never took any medicine, I am now a happy 16 year old with all A's, loads of friends and a new found bubbly personality! (I am also tummy ache free!) The usual cause for childhood super-barfing is usually just a bit of anxiety that may go away on it's own. I wish you and your son the best of luck!
Might be acid reflux. Sometimes it presents as stomach pain but can also have other symptoms like vomiting. I'd take him to his doctor. They at least could rule out other possibilities and try him on an acid reducer to see if it helps.
there are a few possibilities to it, maybe your son is over reactive to certain foods or smells. try looking at that.
if not, it might be a stomach muscle problem, just as some people has twitching muscles
Take him to see another doctor
He's your child. Don't come to the internet for answers your duty is to nurture and protect him. Go to an authorized medical practitioner and ask this question, not here. I am aware you have visited a pediatrician. Keep going until something is discovered. It may be something in his diet as it may be something else.
So many illnesses and diseases both common and obscure. Don't risk your childs well being in order to save a couple of bucks or time.
