bumped up in revenue?

I once worked with a chief executive of a company, I was an employee there, and there was this CEO of a big company, and he was a really good CEO, a humble guy, but the company had bumped up to a billion dollars in revenue -- that used to be a lot of money -- and then they couldn’t seem to get past it. So one of the most ambitious of the leaders at this company really petitioned to the board. He said, you should make me the new CEO and they did. So they hired him, put him into the job. Now the company was hemorrhaging revenue and customers and it was laying people off, and so this new guy took over, and the first thing he did is he said we have to cut costs.

請問

他說這家公司" had bumped up to a billion dollars in revenue" 意思應該是公司營業額或總收入是a billion, 可是他接著說 they could not get past it 然後換一個CEO 來cut costs

I'm confused.

應該是說這家公司曾經擁有十億的收入(had bumped up to a billion dollars in revenue),但是公司沒辦法將這樣的好景延續下去(they couldn't seem to get past it) 現在公司流失了大量個顧客及收入(now the company was hemorrhaging revenue and customers) 也開始裁員,這個新的CEO接管後,他的第一件事就是開始削減成本(cut costs)

"but the company had bumped up to a billion dollars in revenue, and then they couldn't seem to get past it.

get past it = get over with it = 因為做某事而得到滿足
1 billion"

I'm confused.
