Parking on a hill with a curb?

I don't understand why the wheels are supposed to be turned left/right for parking up/downhill. How does this work?

Play with a toy car till you figure it out. If there's a kerb, you are supposed to angle the wheels so that if the brakes fail/ engine turns over, the kerb acts as a chock. If there's no kerb, they are supposed to be angled the other way so that the car will roll into the ditch or grass instead of into traffic.

If for some reason the car rolls, the tire will then hit the curb to stop rolling.

Because if your parking brake fails you would roll into the curb instead of out in the middle of the street.

incase the transmission and or the park brake fails while parked on a hill the wheels when turned properly will cause the car if it rolls to bump into the curb and not down the hill..

This is very difficult to comprehend I know, but hopefully someday, you will figure it out.

It's so that the car won't roll into the street, even if the brakes don't work.

If the cars starts to roll down the hill, the wheel will hit the curb to stop the car from rolling down the hill. Assuming you drive on the right side of the road
Rule of thumb is

Parking UPhill turn wheel LEFT

parking DOWNhill turn wheel RIGHT

Uphill left
Downhill Right

so that if the car rolls it will go into the curb. ...front end up hill turn wheels to left.......front end down hill,...to the right.......that way the curb will stop it
