infect 不是解作受感染, infect 是感染人,動物, 水
受感染要有 virus, bacteria 存在

INFECT (transitive verb)

因為 infect 是 transitive verb, 所以有 object
Subject + infect + object

Subject 是有病或帶菌者
Object 原是無病, 無感染

病, 菌, 或病毒是從 subject 傳播去 object, 結果 object 受到感染
subject 可以是人, 動物, 昆蟲, 病菌, 病毒

subject 與 object 真要攪清楚.

Active voice
The virus has infected many people
(virus是 subject, many people 是 object)

If you return to work too soon, you may infect other people.
(You是 subject, other people 是 object)

Passive voice
普遍地, infected by someone, infected with a disease
infected 是past participle, used in passive voice

Peter was infected by a coworker.
coworker 是有病, Peter 受到感染

He was infected with AIDS

… part of your body or wound is infected. 部分身體或傷口受到感染

infect (verb) 有另外的 meaning
~ to cause (someone) to feel an emotion — usually + with 情緒感染

She has infected everyone with her enthusiasm.
= Her enthusiasm has made other people feel enthusiastic too

感染有兩個形容詞

INFECTED (adj.) = containing germs that cause disease
An infected place is one where germs or bacteria are causing a disease to spread among people or animals.
Infected water = 受到感染的水

INFECTIOUS (adj.) = capable of being passed to someone else by germs that enter the body
A disease that is infectious can be caught by being near a person who has it.

That disease is infectious 那病是傳染性
[subject + is/are + predicative adjective]

Flu is a highly infectious disease. 流行性感冒是傳染性極強的病
[attributive adjective + subject …..形容詞放在 noun 前面]

感染 noun 是 infection

In active voice,
infect 動作是持續性,
subject (帶菌者) 持續感染 other people

In passive voice, infected 解作被感染
好像動作已完成, 帶菌者已離開被感染者
但被感染者變成帶菌者, 繼續傳播

你用廣東話易明啲，infected廣東話即係「領嘢」或「頼嘢」，一嘢足夠，不必持續。
