How to keep my apartment cool?

I live in California, my apartment has a wall ac unit. It's works, but the days it's 100 degrees or more outside it stops being cool even tho i put 66 degrees what can I do to keep it fresh inside my doors windows and curtains are all closed any help?

If you live alone, I would suggest setting the AC at 75 or even 80. Then (with the curtains all closed so you don't give someone an unexpected thrill), take off either most or all of your clothes. And drink lots of water, even if you keep running to the bathroom. Drinking plain water has a tremendous cooling effect. I drink a cup about every 20-30 minutes in hot weather.

You can only really reduce the temp by about a good 20 degrees.
Try a fan and it will help circulate the cooler air.

Get a bigger unit. 100 degree days probably exceed the design specification for the room size and ambient temperature.

you have it set too cold set it at 74 to 76 and it will cool better
