I will be 18 in 2 months and my mom just plain said your moving out when your 18 and my boyfriend is moving in. She says I have no choice but to get out or she'll call police. I have £3000 savings and was wondering how much the DSS would pay of my rent? Please help I am clueless and I can't try and talk my mom around she's started packing my stuff already! What is a good price to pay per month on a 1 bedroom apartment? And any other advice on moving out is very welcome thanks.

Lucky you, here in Scotland parents can throw you out as soon as you are 16. To rent a flat you need a credit check done and a reference from your employer but if you get one the DSS will pay your rent as it comes under housing benefit and for a 1 bedroom flat they will pay around £350 per month and you pay the rest but you stilll have to pay the gas, electric etc. Try website Entitled To, Good Luck

The DSS will possibly pay about two thirds of your rent if you qualify for help, it varies between areas...you'll only be allowed help to rent a room in a cheap shared house sharing facilities...but you will need to pay a month's rent in advance and the deposit yourself...you should have enough in savings for this. You need to bear in mind though that many landlords will not let to you if you are claiming housing benefit

The cost of rent depends on where you live. Rent varies massively around the country.

You'll need to look at the cost of renting a room in a shared house (try flat share and RightMove websites). Landlords will require proof of income (ie that you have a job that'll cover your rent and other living costs) to rent to you.

The council will, depending on your income and savings, pay for the rent of a room in a shared house; until you're over 35 they won't pay for the rent of a flat. You'll need to cover your deposit, first months rent, bills and all other costs.

Bills are generally included in house shares (check though!), and they're generally furnished. On a budget, the best way to get anything else you need is via free sites such as Freegle

You won't be able to play halo frisbee until you get to heaven and that is if you were good enough in life.
