Alienware M17X plugged in but says not charging?! help!?

I have had my alienware for 2 years and it has never said this before. only today have I plugged the power supply in and the laptop says "plugged in, not charging" what do i do?! i need my laptop for work i cant let it die!

1) Shutdown System. 2) Unplug Power. 3) Remove Battery. 4) Plug in Power. 5) Startup and Log on. 6) Shutdown System. 7) Unplug Power. 8) Put Battery Back in. 9) Plug in Power. 10) Reboot and Log On. 11) Problem Solved! steps that worked for me with this issue, it seems to be common in vista/7 when your battery falls to critical levels. Your charger should be fine. at worst leave it shut down for a minute with the battery out
