英文一些名詞問題

某些名詞或形容詞後連接的介詞(preposition)是有固定的規則，這叫詞語搭配 collocation。

例如：

形容詞
- afraid "of", fond "of", eligible "for", good "at", ready "for", ...等等。

名詞
- access "to", key "to";
- lack "of", use "of", thought "of";
- hope "for", need "for", reason "for", thought "for"; ...等等。

不明白，最好多查字典。

例句 (Yahoo dictionary):

need [+for]
There ' s a growing need for new housing in many rural areas .
許多農村地區對新住屋的需求不斷增長。

thought [+of]
I had no thought of gaining any personal advantage.
我當時未曾想到要獲得任何個人的好處。

thought [+for]
Louis went back into the blazing building with no thought for his own safety.
路易斯又回到熊熊燃燒的大樓裡﹐根本沒有考慮到自身的安全。

其實以我理解,need係noun,for speed係為了速度
如果need to會變左verb,need of speed會無左目的,只解速度的需求

但為甚麼need for speed 要用for 我i need to go now 都可以用to ??

Because "wind", "horse" and "cow" are not related.

to 應該不行，但第一個我想 of 也可以。

其實你問得好好，有時候我們直覺上真的會知道用哪一個，但要解釋起來的確考功夫。
