A certain radar installation used to track airplanes transmits electromagnetic radiation of wavelength 3cm. What is the frequency of this radiation, measured in billions of hertz.

Take the speed of electromagentic wave be 3 x 10^8 m/s
Hence, frequency of radiation = 3x10^8/(3/100) Hz = 10^10 Hz = 10 billion Hz

Note that in physics, the term "billion Heratz" is rarely used. Instead, we usually use the term Giga-Hertz, abbreviated GHz, to represent 1 "billion hertz".
