How do I become a teacher?
I want to become a history teacher. In order to do that, do I have to get a degree in history and then start teaching, or do I get my degree in teaching? Because when it asks for my major, do I say history or education. Btw looking to teach high school level.
Thanks:)

First take degree in history and then take classes for teaching certificate
You would major in secondary education if you're wanting middle school or high school. After you declare your major, they will ask you to choose a specialty. Your specialty would be history. Through this, you'd take all the necessary ed classes as well as history classes.
Technically you could get your degree in history and then try for alternative certification, but you'd be missing out on a lot of pedagogy, child/adolescent development, and behavior management classes that come in REALLY handy.
it varies by state, but you can usually do it either of the ways you mentioned. What I did was get the degree in the content area, then took classes for my teaching certification
You desperately need to talk with an academic advisor at your college. Now.
sneak into a school and lock the actual teacher it the bathroom closet or whatever then just teach the children after let the real teacher go they will thank you for doing there work for them
