I sent this email to them . It will explain everything

My policy number is *****************

Ok so, i made a call to liberty insurance 1 week before the 10th of june
I called in to cancel my insurance. A lady picked up the phone and told me that i can cancel my insurance any time. (NOT STATING THAT I HAVE TO PAY A CANCELATION FEE)
So she goes ahead and transfers me to the cancelation team. After being on hold for 5 minutes she tells me that everyone is busy, and advises me to send an email to liberty insurance , stating my policy number and to say that i want to cancel my insurance.

I go ahead and to that on the same day. Sent an email, it took about 2 days to get a reply . And finally on the 10th of june they canceled my insurance. REMEMBER (NOT STATING THAT I HAVE TO PAY A CANCELATION FEE)

Week later i get a letter in the post saying i have 10 days to pay a "outstanding balance of €115.92"
So i call in they say its in the policy booklet that i have to pay a cancelation fee. (ALTHOUGH IT DOESNT)
So he tells me to leave it with him and that he will call me back. ( newer got a call back )

Again, a week later i call them giving them my mother to speak to them. She states what is going on. The man tells us that we have to pay the fee. And that it states that in the terms.
We read out the terms to the man. And he says " oh yea I'm really sorry ill get the financial team to give you a call back"
AND WE NEVER GOT A CALL BACK

Again a week later got

" AND WE NEVER GOT A CALL BACK Again a week later got a letter saying that i have to pay the fee within 7 days. I am not willing to pay the fee as i was not told i have to when i canceled my insurance. I only wanted to cancel it for 2 months anyway. And don't tell me that the person should have told me that there are cancelation fees. Because they DIDNT

They disclosed that you would have a cancellation fee, up front, when you first bought the policy.

They don't have to disclose it a hundred times, every time they talk to you. They disclose it ONCE. They did that. You probably signed or initialed right next to it.

You read it already. They presumed you were a competent adult. Now you're complaining that they didn't treat you like a five year old? Seriously.

And. You can't cancel a policy "for two months". Once it's cancelled, it's gone, then you have to buy a new one.

Tell then you aint going to pay anything unless they can supply the reference in your policy or their terms and conditions to where it says a fee is payable

If they cant then tell them that since your policy and their terms and conditions are the ONLY contract with them, then you aint going to pay it,,,cos that contract does not specify a cancellation fee is required and they cannot change that contract after they have issued it

And a thing to bear in mind NEVER phone when you get into a dispute

ALWAYS either email or write (date and keep a copy of letters and emails - including replies)

(and you are lucky they sploke to your mother
If I had been the insurance I would not have spoken to her
You may well give her your details but the insurance have no business speaking with her cos YOU are the client not her

Since you noted the pounds sign instead of dollars, it appears you are talking about Liberty Insurance in the UK. I suggest you contact the controlling body for Insurance in the UK and ask for assistance. In the US there isn't a cancellation fee other than making sure the policy was paid up through the cancellation date. Good Luck
