Are plastic water bottles with the food safety symbol necessarily BPA free?

Food safe symbol identifies that materials used in the product are safe for food contact.

Whether or not a particular product is free of BPA or not depends on the legal requirements of the nation it is manufactured in.


In general, the symbol assures the following:

- The container surface is free of any toxic contaminants which could be contacted from the manufacturing process.
- The material used to manufacture the product shall not become toxic in future through its usage.

BPA is still in the 5 gallon and higher containers but it's not in the individual sized containers anymore.

I don't think it's the right symbol to use for BPA free considerations. Better choose the ones that really have BPA free displayed though. Also, make sure to recycle bottles every after use to help our environment. Hope this helps.
