有關過去式問題

沒有問題。

由於早上掃地是一個屬於過去的動作，所以即使後來發生了什麼事，也不影響早上這個動作，你用 simple past tense （簡單過去式）是沒有問題的。

"Mary swept the floor of her home in the morning."
瑪莉在早上打掃她家中的地板。

雖然後來地板又再髒了，但事實上她早上是完成了掃地這個動作，所以後來地板髒了根本是另一件事。

即使 Mary 現在也因為地板髒了再掃地，但這也應視作是另一個動作，與早上已結束的掃地動作也是兩件事。

給予自己多一點信心。

如果想具體描述整個情況，你可以說：

Mary swept the floor of her home in the morning.　(past tense)
However, the floor is dirty now, so Mary is sweeping the floor again.　(present continuous tense)

Mary 係早上掃地，宜家地板污糟，Mary 又掃地，咁講"Mary swept the floor of
her home in the morning." 有無問題。
Amendment: Though Mary swept the floor at home this morning and yet she has to keep on sweeping for it is dirty again. .

Mary swept the floor of
her home in the morning." 無問題。- past tense

宜家地板污糟，Mary 又掃地=

She is sweeping the floor because it is dirty now. = present continuous tense
