noun phrase and relative clause

Phrase does not have any verb -

Mary wears a very petty dress .
We went to cinema with our friends last Sunday.

Relative clause does have a verb but it is not the main verb in a sentence

Mary is my classmate, whose father is a teacher
Mary wears a very pretty dress, which is a birthday present (from her mother). (from her mother) is a phrase in this sentence while which is a birthday present is a clause.
We went to cinema with our friends, who came to visit us last Sunday.

Relative clause can also be changed slightly and make the sentences into two simple sentences

Mary is my classmate. Her father is a teacher.
We went to cinema with our friends last Sunday . Our friends came to visit us last Sunday.
