Where to find tort claims?

I have to find a recent tort claim to use as an example for my college course. It needs to be recent within the past 5 years. I can't find anything using google and its getting frustrating. It also must show what the case was and everything. Where can I go to find this?

Surf Doctor, thank you. But I need one for South Carolina. I forgot to put that part in there. But thank you. How did you find that?

An example of tort is negligence, so better to look for that: more specific and more common.

Quickest way is to go to the website of the highest court in SC - it's probably called the Supreme or High Court of SC. Look up case reports. Add "negligence" in the search engine.

Or you could ring up the highest court in SC and ask the receptionist to speak to the duty registrar. The registrar is the senior clerk who is also a lawyer and knows everything about that court. The duty registrar is one whose job is to answer calls from the public, usually lawyers, about how to do things properly.

Ask the duty registrar where you can find a report on a case in negligence.

If that doesn't work, find out the name of the lawyers or attornies society in South Carolina. For example, where I live, in New South Wales, Australia, it's called the Law Society.

Ring up the Law Society and ask to speak to the law library. Law librarians know everything.

Tell the law librarian you're looking for a recent case on negligence, and could she refer you to a report on a case on negligence from the highest court in SC.
