I painted my watch band with a marker. How to keep the color from washing out.? I was thinking about sealing it with clear nail polish.?

My fraternity colors are purple and gold. I purchased a watch band and changed the color to purple. I was wondering if clear nail polish might keep the color from fading.

Both the marker and the nail polish will wear off.
