With notations in the figure above.
(a) When 0 ≤ h ≤ 2.
By similar triangles, h/w = 2/50 = 1/25.
That is, w = 25h
V = (h × w) ÷ 2 × 24
= (h)(25h)(12)
= 300h²
(b) When 2 < h ≤ 3.
V = (2 × 50) ÷ 2 × 24 + (h - 2) × 50 × 24
= 1200 + (h - 2) × 1200
= 1200 + 1200h - 2400
= 1200h - 1200
