Take Zn/ZnSO4 and Cu/CuSO4 half-cells as an example.
The salt bridge is soaked in NaCl (aq).
I'd like to know whether electricity would still be produced if there is no salt bridge.
My assumption is yes, but the voltage would drop very quickly. Am I correct?
Also, my chem book says that Cl ions would move to the Zn/ZnSO4 cell and Zn ions would move to the salt bridge. Would they react to form ZnCl2?
My last question is that would the reaction finally stop (because all zinc has changed into zn ions?) even when the salt bridge is present?
