Title:-Cranberry Baker are cheated.(=Baking Cooks)
A strange detective story.p9-p26.All in Present Tenses.
Characters:-Detective Miller,
John Baker,
Fenton---his friend+colleague;
William Cranberry,
Butler Jenkins,
Madam Eve, Clairvoyant(=power of hearing things not present to senses---second sight.)
The 2 min.report:-
(1)Inspector Miller asks Baker to solve a mystery because he wants a promotion in the Police Dept.
(2)The promotion IQ problem reads:-that Cranberry goes to library---Strange Destiny---a receipt falls out ask him to visit Eve---a clairvoyant---who asks him to bury an expensive heirloom in his mother's grave.Then the necklace&Eve disappear.
The Solution to IQ problem:-
They(butler+Eve)have planned the theft together---microphone in Cran's pillow etc,---Baker reads the report paper&solves the mystery soon.
(3+4)When Baker brings the soln. to Miller who orders Baker to take a week's holiday to celebrate future promotion with his wife with their Bank Saving Accounts overdrawn!!
(4)When return Fenton tells him about new Boss&Miller.They had been promoted!!Miller was using Baker's intelligence and so cheated him his promotion prospect&A/C Bank !!
Similary Madam Eve&Butler Jenkins had cheated Cranberry's Jewellery!
A supplement to two min. talk with additional 9 sentences, an addendum to second part only:-
(1)Cranberry wakes up&decides to Library with Butler Jenkins;
(2)He asks Librariant for "Strange Destiny";
(3)A receipt falls out from the local pawnshop;
(4)Cranberry gives the receipt for an antique Mirror;
(5)He finds a visiting card hidden.
(6)It takes him to Eve,a clairvoyant;
(7)The Eve knows everything about his past,childhood,girlfriends and financial problems;
(8)She tells him that his luck can be changed only by burying his heirloom in his mother's grave;
(9)That night Cranberry takes his great grand mother's diamond necklace&burys in the cemetery.
