mostly a question of dialect. However, there is a slight nuance, in that writing the check is not yet actually drawing upon the money that is on account. That only occurs when the check is presented for the money (is cashed). So some people will distinguish between the actual writing of the check and the drawing of the funds. In essence, the check has not truly been drawn until it is submitted to the bank, but that is not the usual interpretation, and drawing a check is equivalent to writing a check for most people.

The difference is only in the words. The meaning is the same.

The difference is "drawing a check" is just another way of saying someone is giving you money in the form of a check or note. "Writing a check" is what happens when you give someone money by writing the amount on a piece of paper called a check or a note.

Here is an example of how to write a check: http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Check
