Topic:To be labelled a 'Work of Art', a painting, sculpture or other art form should display certain qualities that are unique. However, over the past century there has been a decline in the quality of prize-winning artwork and it is now possible for quite ordinary pieces of art to be labelled 'masterpieces' whilst true works of art pass unnoticed.
Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer.

Artists create their own forms of art and others will label it as a “work of Art” if some unique qualities are shown. It is claimed that the art standard has been declined in these decades. Ridiculously, people may even regard ordinary pieces as masterpiece but true works of arts remain unnoticed. This saying is not the real case and I hold an opposite view regarding this opinion.

In society, there are people who appreciate the arts and to evaluate it deeply and analytically. Very often, there are art exhibitions held in different districts in Hong Kong. In Asia, there are world-wide art exhibitions, like the upcoming Basel Fair in June in Hong Kong. Many prize-winning artworks are on display and some prestigious arts appreciators said that they are of high quality and artists expressed high degree of creativity. Obviously, the art standard didn’t decline and there are always platforms for people to appreciate true works of arts.

Besides holding arts exhibition, auctions can be found around the globe. There are regular auction weeks, especially the European countries. Due to the historical background, people living in France, Britain and the rest of Europe are of higher arts sense. They cultivate the love for arts and try hard to improve their painting skills. Among them, it is not rare to discover fabulous artists. In addition, many award-winning artworks will be used for buyers to bid. It can be said that true work of arts actually are appreciated by arts lovers.
