I am moving to Glasgow, any advice you can give me?

I was initially moving there this September for school, but I deferred my offer to Strathclyde Business School to September 2015. I have heard it was a great place to live and study, but I would like a real analysis of Glasgow. Of course I am going there to focus on my education, but I would like to know more about it from someone who has lived there for at least 6 months.

How are the living costs?
What's the vibe of the city?
Is it easy to travel to other parts of Scotland while you're there?
What are the people like?
Are there parts I should avoid?

Edinburgh is the same as Tom described Glasgow as far as dark alleys are concerned, then this can be true of many places all over the world, I'm sure you won't be frequenting any.

You'll be perfectly safe in Glasgow. People all look after each other there, especially if you're new to the area and don't know it. You'll find your fellow students will take care of you and tell you all you need to know.

The people are very friendly and will give you a very warm welcome. Apart from your studies, I'm sure you will find yourself with lot's of new friends and places to go. It's a multicultural City and has lots of interesting history, beautiful parks and tons of places to go and visit. The Burrell collection is one at Pollok Park is a wonderful place to visit. I could virtually go on and on.

Entertainment....there's lot's of show's etc. to go to, cinema's, pubs clubs restaurant's, museum's art gallery's. I think you'll love it. It also has beautiful architecture, the buildings are very interesting and the skills of the extremely talented stone masons of yesteryear are very much in evidence.

Plenty of transport to get you around too. Central and Queen Street train station's will get you anywhere you want to visit elsewhere in Scotland, as well as the Bus station (Queen St too). Being a student you may qualify for cheaper ticket's for journey's you make and venues you visit.

The vibe is very vibrant, busy and friendly. Lot's of shops and shopping centre's. I'm sure you won't want for anything. Cost's aren't too bad (not as bad as London)

I'm sure you will enjoy every aspect of living in Glasgow, Oh... and visit Edinburgh too it's another beautiful vibrant, lively place with lot's going on too. Enjoy your stay, and I hope you have a wonderful and memorable time throughout your studies and I wish you all the very best.....don't forget your camera!

Good Luck!!!

We'll I live in Edinburgh and all I know that there are some crime hotspots around their but apart from that about 95% of it is perfectly safe, just avoid dark alleyways at night especially if your a girl cuz there can be a few perverted weirdos lurking around those areas. Glasgow is though known for its nightlife and shopping so I doubt you will get bored their
