So I met this guy, and we have chatted online a few weeks back, and it was kind of a friendly conversation. But one day, I saw him was hinting me to ask him out. I took his hint, but then he seemed to avoid my response, and moving towards another topic. I thought he was just shy and all, but then he hinted on asking me out again. I said yes, but then he still avoided my response. I also asked him about his hobbies, but he only seemed to mention a few.
I would like to ask, what is going on in his mind? Does he like me back, but too embarrassed to tell me about it, or is he just treating me as a friend?

You don't say how you knew he was hinting for you to ask him out, but here's something that might work for you. If he does it again, immediately tell him that you are open-minded but that your family taught you to be wary of any guy who is too shy to make his intentions known. Then tell him that because of that there is nothing that you find more exciting than a guy who has the confidence to risk everything and ask you out up front and direct, and that it impresses you so much that you would automatically have to say "yes" to someone who does because you are intrigued by a man who can do something that would leave you feeling so nervous, like asking him out.
He will either understand and rise to the occasion by asking you out (which you'd better accept charmingly and gratefully, so he knows that you are impressed by him and his ability to pick up on what you are telling him), or he will falter and stumble and blow his chance. If he does, then isn't it better to know that right up front than find it out after you have spent months jumping through hoops trying to bolster a confidence that just isn't there?

Not really sure. No matter how shuy the guy is but if you ask him he would say yes. If he keeps on silent maybe he just treat you as a friend.
