1. "Net displacement" is the vector sum of all displacements. That is, total displacement with the signs of individual displacements taken into account.2. In the tradiational convention, areas above the time axis (i.e. +ve displacement) indicates displacement towards the left, whereas those below the time axis (-ve dispalcement) indicates displacement towards the right.
