Williamson Ether Synthesis of p-methylphenoxyacetic acid?
As the alkoxide is reacted to form p-methylphenoxyacetic acid. Why is this product soluble in aq. base but not in aq. acid?

It dissolves as the salt of the carboxylic acid. As expected.
I don't like the product name: it should be p-methoxyphenylacetic acid. The benzene does not have a p-CH3 group, it is p-CH3O
