UT Austin Spring Transfer?
Sooooo I wanted to go to UT in high school. I didn't get accepted because I wasn't even in the top 10%. I was in top 25% though. I just went to a bigger school so almost a 4.0 put me there.
Now as a freshman in college i am looking to transfer in spring of 2015
last semester i had a 3.5 and this semester i am either going to end up with a cumulative gpa of a 3.2 or 3.3 :\ which i know is really bad when i am looking to transfer there.
but i do have community service from high school and college, NSCS, extracurricular activities, made it on the deans list first semester, and also have two jobs to put on the list.
I think I can write some really good essays, but am also nervous about applying and not getting in. What do you think my chances would be?
also, i wanted to get into the college of communications but understand they don't take new students till fall semester, so was thinking about going undergraduate studies and then transferring in after if i got in? what is the best way to go about that?
ORRRR i guess another option would be just waiting to apply for the fall semester and trying to get my gpa up

You apparently are highly motivated. UT likes that. The "retention rate" [percentage of students who return for a 2d year] is well over 92% which for a large public university is phenomenal.
The down side is that there are not that many places available.
As for your expected timing - there really is no good answer. If you have 30 or more hours with great grades, you are definitely eligible. The pressure on Admissions is less for the Spring and there is a fractionally higher admission rate - but that may speak to the quality of students too.
My suggestion is that you apply for the Spring 2015 semester School of Undergraduate Studies but do not burn any bridges where you are. UT may or may not come through - there is no way to predict at this time.
Good luck. Hook 'Em!
I am facing a similar problem. I am currently studying in Hosuton Community College, and holds a 3.55 GPA. I missed the Fall deadline for architecture and Design , and I m thinking if applying in the spring 2015 , and internally transferring to the school of architecture or Design in the fall 2015. But to my knowledge, the transfer process is no easier than doing an external transfer. The admission process of The school is same as any transfer admission process. Not to mention a competitive major like design or architecture like this....
My choices laid out: Transfer in spring- to another major and settle
transfer in spring- to a major, but then internally transfer to another major( preferably architecture)
transfer in spring- to another institutuin( not UT???!)
transfer in the Fall-to my desired major( while to other universities majors that opens only in the fall)
Transfer in the Fall- to another major
Finish my associates- then transfer?( not sure about this one)
Quit college:)
Hope it helps, but I probably need help too :P
