can amoxicillin cause diarrhea?

Nephew got diarrhea after second dose. But 4 days later still having 6 episodes between midnight and 3:45am. On Pedyalite, yogurt, ect but looses everything he ingest w/in 20 min. Been back to doctor to make sure he's not dehydrated & talked w them daily. Frustrated & concerned.

7% of the population will get the kind of reaction from antibiotics which you describe.
Keep in tough w/ your doctor.
I went through something similar a few years ago. Since then, if a dr goes to prescribe an antibiotic, I tell him " whoa!~: and explain my past reaction.
Wise move-keeping him hydrated.

Short answer: Yes it could.
Tummy upset is one of the most common problems with antibiotics.
More importantly you should find out the reason why he needs to be on antibiotics.
Unnecessary use of antibiotics contributes to resistant strains.
If he can be taken off antibiotics see if the symptoms improve.
Keep hydrated and check he's passing water as usual. (i.e. nappies are heavy with urine / stool).
