This problem doesn't involve much physics. It only involves a simple formula:distance travelled = velocity x time
Relative velocity between the trains = (50 + 50) mph = 100 mph
The time needed for the two trains to collide
= 100/100 hour = 1 hour
Since the fly travels 60 miles in one hour, hence the total distance travelled by the fly during this hour before the two trains collide = 60 miles.
