How do plants make their protein, lipids and chlorophyll?
What substances do they need?


Protein, lipid and chlorophy are all organic compound, all organic compound come from the product of photosynthesis.

In photosynthesis, triose phosphate is produced first,
and the it is converted to glucose.

其實所有的有機物 (蛋白質,脂肪,葉綠素)都是由光合作用的產物葡萄糖開始合成。 (中五課程)

Protein
Glucose molecule and nitrate undergoes a series of metabolic activities to form an amino acid. Amino acid join together in ribosome(rRNA) according to the sequence of mRNA to form polypeptide. Polypeptide coil to form a protein molecule.

葡萄糖加硝 (氮化物) 變成氨基酸，氨基酸連成一串，變蛋白質, 氨基酸有20種 (必需氨基酸)，它們連起來的次序決定蛋白質的形狀，氨基酸的次序由mRNA決定，mRNA的次序由DNA決定。(中五課程)


Lipids
You may know that lipid can be broken into fatty acid and glycerol.
In fact, glucose and phosphorous compound join together to form lipid.


Chlorophyll
Main compound: Magnesium ion, Nitrogen, Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen
