My partner crochets things for her hobby, but sells them online. She is obviously classed as self employed but today someone wanted a more specific job title, and we had no idea what to say (artist was suggested but it didn't feel right) Any suggestions as to what it could/should be?

I'm self employed too and yes, there are times when banks or lenders want to know exactly what is it you do. Artisan is the proper word - an artisan is someone who makes small things by hand to sell.

No need for it to be anything. 'Self employed' is fine; 'craftworker' if you want something a bit more specific.
