Though u might need to add Database and a programming language like JAVA or .NET-C# to that list. vb is not used a lot now..

After that if u r able to build an application to match a client's specifications, that would mean u r a good software engineer.

Around this world so many of people created useful software languages and still we know some only but if

we know more than some knowledge then we can create many other good things from many other people

and sharing of knowledge in between them in an group we could create great things.

some times our knowledge will be useful for great help to some people.

php an java really do not count for software engineer or programmer, they are only scripting languages. and the programs you are using are really NOT programming tools, they ae just shortcut srcipt creators. Start learning a real programming language like C or a derivative.

It depends on what you are going to build and the techs it takes.
