Also, the mucus can protect itself from corrosion by gastric juice.

十二指腸為何不被pancreatic juice中的protease, lipase所消化?

It is because duodenum secrete mucus to protect itself from digested by protease and lipase.


總而言之，消化道之所以不受傷害，全因它能分泌一層粘液來保護它。

Although the alimentary lining is protected by mucus, if there are excess gastric juice in stomach, it will become thinner and damaged finally.

Also, if the pancreatic duct is blocked, the protease will accumulate and digest the cell membrane of the tissue. The pancreas will be hurt.
