Actually, you do NOT want to 'buy' encryption software.
Whenever possible, obtain "open source' software (it's usually free).
'Open source' means the code and all particulars of the software is freely available for inspection; and many hundreds, perhaps thousands of experts have vetted it's operation and verified that it behaves as it should, and is without suspicious unknown behavior.
"TrueCrypt" fits that category.
When you buy a software, the operation is not disclosed, and often relies on some convoluted, secret encryption they've created themselves, and is inferior.
Trust the software that's been examined.

Google truecrypt. Its the best encryption software in the world, even the government cannot crack it

TrueCrypt for customizable encryption.
AVG for Antivirus/AntiSpyware.
both free. both good.

I use paid Malwarebytes AntiMalware Pro, free Avast AV and free Privatefirewall to protect my Win 8.1 desktop.
