How can the truth be a Hoax? We are writing essays and journals. It's called science and everything we are achieving in it, thus proving the bible more and more wrong everyday.

JRR Tolkein already did it. His "hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings" books (far more self-consistent and interesting than the bible, by the way) have a very religious following of billions.

Muhammed already did it. His entirely made-up book of ignorant superstition and magic (the Quran) has a fantatical, devoted following of more than a billion.

Joseph Smith already did it, his entirely made-up book of Mormon has a fantatical religious following in the tens of millions.

The only way primitive religion exists today is through the child abuse of forcing it into very, very young children but thanks to better education and growing intellects so many teens are able to discover the truth, throw off the indoctrination and step into the real world!

Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.

The bible is what is called "Faction” A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?

Please realize that those claims for the Old historians are worthless since they were not even born until long after everyone in the stories would have been so long dead!

You can't duplicate fictional stories in real life, especially ones that involve gods, demons and angels.

Randi wasn't all that bright. Thinking that if you are able to fake something, that "proves" the original thing was a hoax, is a huge logic fail, and yet people seem to accept it anyway.

Many, many books and essays and stories have been written about morals and such, and fantastic miracles, and copies have been made, distributed and have gathered major amounts of followers. The Bible is not unique in this regard. I would recommend you read more things, especially fiction. You might try Lord of the Rings -- the series has all the narrative elements you mentioned above, plus thousands of fans. Some people even believe the books had a basis in reality -- so much for telling fantasy from reality!

I love the fact that so many atheists seem to repeat over and over at how "logical" atheists are, but then they never present a logical argument to support their belief.

So Christianity invented Jesus or rather the Romans who invented Jesus also invented Christianity around the NT Jesus the story which the Romans also wrote. Since Jesus is your star or the star of Christianity and has been debunked many times over the years, what does that really leave you. Nothing but a shell and nothing but a 'whole lota empty claims. I never cease to be able to laugh about Christians making so many claims and they are too afraid to do any research into real history because they know that history shows nothing about their Jesus. I thought you guys claimed to be about love and honesty and truth, but yet you do not want to know the truth about your belief system which is that it is not truth.

For a couple reasons. For one, even though I don't think that any religion is true, I don't have anything against most of them. Especially Christianity. Why would I try to make people stop believing in something that makes them happy, even if it isn't true? Another reason is because people used to be much more ignorant than they are. We understand so much more about the world now. The only reason these claims still exist is because of how popular Christianity has been for such a long time. If these kinds of claims were to be made today, and people weren't so used to it, nobody would believe it. But if you backed up a few hundred years and made something similar to the Bible, I think you would get similar results.

Shocking question, , hardly worth a response. .. we evolved from common ancestors of chimpanzees. .. we developed larger brains after a few millions of years and thought the sun and moon were gods and became more self aware and question things... we EVOLVED. 5000 years ago man thought the earth was flat, worshipped many many gods because life at first look appears to be created. We now clearly understand evolution by non random selection. Here is something that almost everyone must believe. .. mormanism was written in 1800s by a know charlatan and con man and managed to create a cult some serious wacky beliefs. That's a hoax.... if understand anything about religion you'd know that's a hoax.... rather than make up another wacky story lets focus on science and the interesting things it can tell us...

They cannot prove anything about the Bible one way or the other. The Bible produces faith one way or the other. That faith/theory in action is all we have because it tells us we must have faith.
