1. A man went off behind a curtain. OR The man went off behind a curtain.
2. The play "Macbeth" is four hours long.
3. The role had been played by the actor before.
4. This year, a huge range of entertainment is being offered.
(A comma ^ is needed after "this year") OR
A huge range of entertainment is being offered this year.
5. An opera is similar to a play but all the words are sung.
6. Comedians must of course have a good sense of humour. ("must of course" is better)

Since you're S3, what's Sentence Making WS ?
(1)A man went off (=go off, to leave a place called stage ) behind the curtain.
(2)The play "Macbeth" is four hours long.
(3)The role had been played by the actor (singular) before.
(4)This year a huge range of entertainment is being offered to avoid the comma.
(5)An opera is similar to a play but all the words are sung.
(6)Comedians (must of course) (adv) have (verb) a good sense of humour.

Another way:
Without using quotation marks, Macbeth should be italicized.

"of course" functions as an adverb.
It is normally placed between the auxiliary verb and the main verb.

Tightening the space between the adverb and the verb modified reduces the chance of mistakenly linking the adverb with a word it was not intended to modify.

Other examples:
You can of course pay at another time.
You should of course keep copies of all your correspondence.
