Submariners use sonar to detect the position of enemy's submarine, does the sonar disclose the position of the submarine to the enemy?

A sub using active sonar reveals itself. A sub using passive sonar does not.

Active yes, passive no.

Any time you make noise, someone else listening with sonar can hear you.

If you use active sonar, the "ping" is a VERY loud noise.
