My teacher called me a weirdo in front of everyone!?

Hi. Today when my teacher asked our class if we heard of the band "The Beatles", everyone raised their hand. But I really did not heard of it before, so I did not raised my hand. My teacher noticed me and said in front if the whole class "You're a weirdo anyway" and the whole class laughed at me. I felt humiliated, offended and frustrated. Should I sue the teacher? Should I report to my head teacher about this and make the teacher apologise?

There is no excuse for a teacher to call a student any kind of derogatory name.Teachers are in positions of power, authority and trust and they should not use that to push their students down. You look to them for support and guidance not to be put down and made to feel worthless.I would definately not let this teacher get away with it.I once had a teacher laugh along with my classmates when one of them saw a dog and called out my name.He was trying to be 'the friend' type of teacher who was down on the kids level.I felt mortified. If the teacher apologises he will just do it because hes been told to and coz hes worried about keeping his job.I would sue.I am sorry this happened to u.Try not to let it define your opinion of yourself in any way. That jerk is the weirdo, not you!

not nice! while it is probably pretty rare that someone hasnt heard of the beatles, your teacher should not be making fun of you for it in front of the whole class. Not sure if you could sue a teacher for that sort of comment but i would definitely talk to a head teacher about the situation. Good luck!

Tell your parents what happened and how you feel and see what they have to say about it.
A teacher shouldn't say things like that to a student.

Sorry to hear that ,probably your teacher did not meant what he say, I don't know which country you come from ,imagine the whole class knew it, but you never heard . To be fair you should consider your own common sense and try to keep up with the current world so that nobody would laugh at you.
I suggest, you should confess to your teacher that, you have no ill will toward him but you really don't know so he may give you you some good advice to improve your world view.

I love The Beatles! ...But the teacher shouldn't have said that. From the looks of it they didn't really mean anything by it. But sometimes teachers try to be "cool" to fit in with the students and while doing that they often offend kids. Most of the time they really arn't trying to hurt you.(though, I have met some that do try to be offensive.) But maybe you should tell your teacher that it hurt your feelings after class, by email, or even have your parrents tell them. The best way probably being talking to the teacher in person.

Good luck!

Let it go. Your teacher is a jerk, but in his defense, the Beatles are considered one of, if not THE greatest rock band of all time. Especially by people of your teacher's generation. So it's understandable that he's a little sensitive about the subject. The Beatles were waaaaay cool and popular in the 60's and 70's. You weren't even born then, but even kids of your generation have enjoyed their music since you were the only one not to put your hand up. Check them out sometime.

No , you don't need to report it . Just try to learn more . It is very unusual for someone to never have heard of the greatest band ever . Google it and see what you can find out about the Beatles . Its not your fault if you never heard of them , so just don't worry about it .
