My aunt went to Northern Europe back in Dec 2013 trying to see the Northern light, she was so disappointed, she didnt even see one.
She is visiting Vancouver from mid to late March (2014), and she want me to join her (I am from toronto) to go to Yellowknife and try our luck and HOPE to see one there.
MY Question :::
1. well, i know it is hard to predict , BUT usually how "strong" is the northern light in mid to late march ?
2.is there some web site can give me some passed data on the forcast of the northern light?
3. anything else i should know of BEFORE i putting money down??

1. I don't know how often it happens but it can be fairly "strong" and March can be the best month.2. Spaceweather.com
3. If you want to know if there will be aurora you can get alerts from Spaceweather. Make sure the weather is clear and dry. The higher the chance for auroras, the better.

Mid-late March is usually excellent for seeing them. And, Yellowknife is a good place. In fact there is a webcam pointed at the sky every night (except in the summer).

Geez; I live on the Central Prairies of Saskatchewan Canada and we have displays of the Northern lights virtually every month of the year. And this past Summer people in North Dakota were privy to a couple of rather dazzling displays also.
BTW - one cannot forecast these displays or their intensity as they are tied to sun activity.

I'd do research online to see optimum places for potential northern lights viewing. Right now the sun is not doing much of anything, so may not be many.
