For bust-waist-hip measurements, do you include or exclude your butt for hip measurement?

Some websites say you should, others say not to. But which is correct measurement to use for making clothes?

I'm confused! Because WITHOUT my butt, the circumference around my hip bones is 36 inches. But with my butt it's like 42 inches. So please help! Oh, and my waist is 27 inches and my bust is 36 inches. I am 6'2" and my inseam is 38".

Thanks in advance

Your hip measurement is taken at the WIDEST part of your hips. That generally includes your butt. Not including your butt in the measurement will have you choosing clothes that are too small for you.

You measure the circumference of the hips at the widest point around. Usually, this will include the butt.
