An English grammar question

Give an example:
*The car broken and towed away was mine. (I saw it at web.)

Why this sentence used "Was mine"? Why not use "is mine"?

"Was mine" means "That car just was mine,but now is not mine."
"Is mine" means "that car still is my car."

was 表示這個東西,過去是我的.然後 is 表示這個東西一直是我的,不是嗎?
所以他這裡用was表示這台車破損被拖走的已經不是我的了嗎?

表示他不要這台車了?

✔ 最佳答案
The car broken and towed away was mine.
=那輛抛錨後被拖走的小汽車以前是我旳。

be動詞是static verb(敘述靜態的狀況,而非動態的過程),用過去式時,表示與現況不符了。

In English, if you use past or any other tenses, you have to stay at those tenses.
參考: Myself

The car broken and towed away was mine.
was=past tense ,mine=a pronoun,genitive case of,
