You can call your business ANY name you like. As a Sole Trader it has nothing to do with Companies House. I was a sole trader and was down as Mrs ?????? trading as (name of catering business). Just make sure there is not a similar name in your area.

Don't care - tell HMRC your are "trading as" and the record will have a note added.
If payments will be in the named trading entity (this is you "trading as") the ncheck with the bank for payments in the form of cheques.
It helps HMRC if you tell them as the investigators are always scanning for new business names.

If trading as a sole trader you cannot be "Limited"; that is a company. As others say you can be Fred Bloggs trading as "Fine Food" - [but not Fine Food Ltd] but one difficulty you may find is if someone has a similar trading name. You could not - for example - trade as Harrods!
