I would like to know which ski resorts are the closest to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Purdue University. Could anyone please provide the name of the resorts and the corresponding time of travel?
Are those ski resorts crowded? Is skiing common in those two states?

Paoli Peaks is in Paoli, INHidden Valley is in St. Louis
Chestnut Mountain us in Galena, Il.

Indiana and Illinois are not known for having big hills or a lot of snow. You would have to go to Wisconsin or Michigan if you want to find half-way decent skiing. Expect short trails and long lift lines, unlike the Rockies where there are long trails and short lift lines. See link below for resorts within a few hours of Purdue. Call ahead to be sure that the slopes are open.
Purdue does have a ski/snowboard club. Consider going on a trip with them. http://www.skipurdue.com/
