Yes, Jesus was dead before he was taken off the cross and laid in the tomb. Muslims deny that Jesus died and was then resurrected because that would make Jesus more important than Muhammad. The Qur'an says that Allah deceived the Jews into thinking Jesus was killed. Under no circumstances will they have it that Jesus was much more than a mere man, a prophet. They deny he preexisted, in heaven, before he came to earth in human form. They refuse to see that Jesus was the very Son of God and they would have people believe Jesus was a Muslim! Back to the crucifixion...
What everybody seems to conveniently forget is that the Romans were experts at crucifixions, and before the sun went down, they broke the legs of all the victims still alive to ensure they died before they were taken down. And with Jesus, who had died before they could break his legs, they shoved a spear inbetween his ribs to puncture the lungs and the heart. Blood and water came out. No Roman soldier would be stupid enough not to finish off the victims, because if they failed to do the job right, they themselves would be crucified.
Jesus was dead, not drugged. Eyewitnesses were there to testify to the fact. Read the article in the link below which exposes the lie that Jesus was not dead. The purpose for the Swoon Theory is not to dispute His death, but rather, it seeks to disprove His resurrection. If Jesus didn’t resurrect, then He’s not God. If Jesus truly died and rose from the dead, His power over death proves that He is the Son of God. The evidence demands the verdict: Jesus truly died on the cross, and Jesus truly rose from the dead.
