Why would a guy say he likes you, and then ask out someone else?

Guys sometimes do selfish and retarded things. Sometimes they don't care, and sometimes they don't even know what they did. If somebody does something hurtful to you, the best thing to do is to explain how it made you feel. Then there is no confusion. Don't ever be afraid to explain something to somebody who is ignorant of poor behavior. Just do it gently. If the person doesn't like it, then he made an important decision FOR you.

Don't worry about it, but make sure if he does ask you out, that he truly does like you over the pass girl. Maybe he did look at you a few times, that's completely normal and a good sign. Good point, you definitely shouldn't change, but he might can come your way. The only possible way for that is to show that you're interested, and what i mean by show is up to you. Don't act like someone else, maybe you can ask him out on a date? lol in today's society, that's perfectly normal.

He is a player. I have been through the same thing except he went off with his ex. I would chat to him (as friends) and ask why he would say he likes you but ask out someone else. Maybe he thought you weren't as interested as he was? Just move on and hang out with your friends :) life is great single too

Oh my god the same thing happened to me my freshman year! Except it wasnt just once, it was at least 5 times over our first two years of high school D: when I think about it now I feel really dumb and realize that I was just his plan B all along. The sad thing is that he's not even a bad guy so I can't totally be mad at him.

it takes time to start to heal lke a physical wound. youll feel empty yes but thats just to make room for someone else who will love and respect you.
advice keep your head up smile and never faulter when you walk and show him what kind of good (insert gender here) he is missing out on.

find another guy, focus on yourself, move on with your life..its not the end of the world. maybe he was initiating the contact every time..maybe he felt you werent putting in the effort? maybe he liked having options and found someone better?
