You do not need to have US$ account. Bank will buy your US$ cheque and change it into HK$ plus some bank charge AND DEPOSIT fund to your HK$ account. Simply check with your bank.

OR

You can check with post office to see if there is any service to cash your cheque and what the charge will be.

Tell the payer to pay you in cash (or other methods) instead.

There is a fee for depositing USD cheque, which it is not worth to do anything with the cheque.

So regardless of accounts, it is not a good idea to accept USD cheque.
