1. y隨x+9而正變,且隨√z而反變,其中z>0。當x=17及z=16時,y=13。
a) 試以x及z表示y。
b) 若x不變而z減少75%,求y的百分變化。
c) 當y=3及z=64時,求x的值。

(a) y = k(x + 9)/sqrt z.
13 = k(17 + 9)/sqrt 16
13 = k(26)/4
k = 2.
So y = 2(x + 9)/sqrt z.
(b)
y1 = 2(x +9)/sqrt z.
y2 = 2(x + 9)/sqrt [ z(1 - 75%)]
= 2(x + 9)/sqrt ( 0.25z)
= 2( x +9)/[0.5 sqrt z]
y2 - y1 = 2(x + 9)/sqrt z [ 1/0.5 - 1] = [ 2(x + 9)/sqrt z]
so % change of y = (y2 - y1)/y1 x 100% = 1 x 100% = 100%.
(c)
3 = 2(x + 9)/sqrt 64
3 = 2( x + 9)/8
12 = x + 9
x = 3.
